Secure transport services are the core of our business

Wrixon Care carers may only undertake escort tasks in our registered fleet of cars,
all of which are less than 3 years old. All cars hold full, comprehensive insurance
policies; have on board communications systems, satellite navigation and maps,
first aid kit, emergency hygiene kit, blanket, pillow, fire extinguisher, spare clothing
etc.


Every car has lockable rear windows and doors with privacy glass and we provide a full range of
babies’ and children’s car seats. Our fleet is regularly inspected and maintained and we hold a PVH Operators Licence.

Conditions

Trainees under escort with Wrixon Care shall be exposed as little as possible to public observation and proper care is taken to protect them from curiosity, ridicule, insult and physical or verbal abuse. Wrixon Care will assist, as far as possible, to overcome any problems the trainee may encounter on escort because of their sensory impairment or other disability. Wrixon Care will not, under any circumstances tolerate direct or indirect discrimination. Staff and clients are treated fairly, irrespective of racial or ethnic origin, colour, physical appearance, gender, creed, age, religion, sexual orientation or offence.

Provision of food, liquid refreshments and entertainment

Wrixon Care will ensure that trainees are provided with food and liquid refreshments at regular intervals. At least one hot meal will be made available if the journey is over 4 hours, drinks will be made available at the trainees request for the duration of the journey. Wrixon Care will provide all food and drink in the vehicle or in a secure area of relevant premises. Wrixon Care will ensure all meals provided are sufficient to sustain the trainee and meet their dietary, medical, cultural and religious requirements. We aim to provide healthy food. Entertainment will also be provided for the trainee in the vehicle, this will consist of playing cards, reading material or travel games.

Comfort stops

Arrangements will be made for comfort stops that include access to toilets on any journey over one hour. We will ensure any facilities used for comfort stops are in a secure environment such as a police station or secure unit where appropriate. For non-secure work a safe environment will be provided.

Staffing levels and treatment of trainees / client

Wrixon Care will always ensure the minimum staff level per escorted journey will be two custody officers plus one driver to one trainee (on secure escorts). All trainees must be accompanied by one officer of the same sex. Trainees will always be treated in accordance with section 31 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933.
